Cost-Effective Alternative to CPCS A73
The NPORS N133 Plant & Vehicle Marshal card is a practical and affordable alternative to the CPCS A73 Plant & Vehicle Marshal card. Successful candidates can gain certification for both Vehicle Marshal and Plant Marshal, making this a valuable qualification for construction site work.
Course Routes Available
Experienced Operator Route:
This is a test-only route for candidates who already have experience working as a traffic marshal or plant and vehicle marshal.
Novice Route:
This route includes training and is suitable for candidates who are new to traffic marshalling or have little/no experience.
Candidates should be able to read and understand English. Please let us know in advance if you have any learning needs or require additional support.
NPORS Card with CSCS Logo
To obtain an NPORS card with the CSCS logo, candidates must have passed a valid CITB or NPORS Health, Safety & Environment test within the last two years.
Candidates who have not passed the CSCS test can still take the NPORS test, but they will receive the traditional NPORS card without the CSCS logo.

Proof of traffic marshal experience, if applying through the experienced route
Full 5-point PPE
Proof of CITB or NPORS HS&E test pass, if applying for the NPORS card with CSCS logo

By the end of this course, learners will have a basic understanding of the construction industry, relevant legislation, workplace hazards, and the responsibilities of a Vehicle and Plant Machinery Marshal. Learners will gain knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the specific vehicle or machine being guided and develop a clear understanding of approved signs, hand signals, and communication methods used during plant and vehicle operations. They will also be able to identify, inspect, and maintain the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for the role.
In addition, learners will be able to carry out the necessary safety checks within the work area, including checks on stop blocks and tipping areas, and safely establish exclusion zones for loading and unloading activities. The course will equip learners with the skills to guide plant machinery safely in both forward and reverse directions, including within confined spaces and blind spots, while maintaining awareness of environmental considerations. Learners will also understand the correct end-of-shift procedures, including shutdown and safe parking of plant and machinery.

Renewals
As part of the NPORS Plant & Machinery Marshal (Traffic Marshal) course, candidates must successfully complete both a theory and practical assessment.
The theory assessment consists of 25 questions, including 20 multiple-choice questions and 5 short written answer questions, designed to evaluate the candidate’s knowledge of site safety, communication methods, and marshalling procedures.
During the practical assessment, candidates will be required to safely guide plant machinery or vehicles around a designated course using approved hand signals and radio communication techniques.
Successful candidates will receive a proof of pass certificate within 1 working day, with the NPORS Trained Operator Card typically issued within 5 working days.

Onsite training
JEOL Training Hub & Consultancy also provides on-site NPORS Plant & Machinery Marshal (Traffic Marshal) training for companies at their own premises.
